It's Hot as Hell and We're Not Going to Take It Anymore!

Today we lost power at our house. In one fell swoop, we lost air conditioning and Sloane's swing -- oh the horror. There was only one thing to do. We decided to go somewhere even hotter than our house: Van Nuys! It was 110 in the shade -- well, 108.6, but who's counting? As Dan put it, it was 10 degrees hotter than his blood and 10.6 degrees hotter than Nick Lachey's band.

But, the pool was nice and cool. It was Sloane's first "swim" in a pool! She looked pretty adorable in her little orange polka dot bathing suit, if we do say so ourselves. She liked the water for the most part . . . as long as we were singing to her. I opted for songs from the Sound of Music, while Dan serenaded her with the Marine Corp Hymn and Dixie (he wasn't whistling it though).

Sloane's 2 month check-up

Sloane had her 2 month pediatrician's appointment today. She weighs 12 lbs. (on the dot), is 24 inches and has a head circumference of 16 inches. Her length is at the 90th percentile!! (and, her weight is at the 75th percentile -- so, she's at a great weight considering her length.) Doc says I should be "prepared for her to be taller than I am." cool!
She also received her first round of vaccines today. Poor thing did NOT like the shots at all. Hopefully she has forgiven me by now.

Here's a picture of Sloane pre-doctor's visit (in happier times):

Out of Towner

Maryland Grandma came to help out with Sloane for a few days, giving the rest of the team time to relax and see Die Hard 4. MDG received special amorous attention from young Disraeli, proving yet again that 1) she's still got it and 2) the Diz wants what it wants. Meanwhile, Maryland Grandpa is hiking the Grand Canyon, and no, that isn't a euphemism for something not ludicrous. He's in the outdoors, like, walking, whereas I had to stop for a nap halfway through this sentence. If that's my future I ain't going.

All Filler, No Killer

I haven't updated the site lately, so here's a picture. I took it to use for Sloane's passport application. Do babies even need passports? Whatever, she'll have it just in case. If she ever gets caught up in some intrigue and needs to pull a Jason Bourne, she can use the second picture to travel incognito.

Sloane's First Movie!

Sloane and I went to our first movie together today -- a matinee of Stardust at the Grove. They have a great set up for the mommy and me films: Mondays, 11am, stroller parking outside the theater, a changing table inside the theater. There were 50+ strollers parked in the hallway of the theater! I thought I might get annoyed by all the babies crying, but it turns out that 15 babies crying at any given point is a lot less annoying than one baby crying when you are not expecting it. It ceases to be a distraction about 5 minutes in, and then you can just enjoy the film. And, it was quite good, I might add. I'm not sure Sloane has much to add, as she wasn't exactly "facing" the screen. Even though the witches were pretty scary, I think she would have liked it cuz she's a pretty tough broad.

Wake Up Little Sloanie, Wake Up

We figured we needed some more pics on the blog that show the little lady with her eyes open! (or, trying to keep them open . . .) After all, they are such beautiful eyes! So, here ya go.
