The Little Drummer Girl

Three of Sloane's biggest fans got front row seats to her sold-out performance on Sunday night.

Visit from Granny Frannie

Sloanie practiced her standing with her grandma and even took a step now and then (with a firm double-grip on grandma's hands). She had a wonderful weekend hangin' with grannie. Sloane's mommy and daddy also very much enjoyed the visit -- they both took some very long naps (yay!) and had a fun date-night on Saturday. We all hope she comes to visit again soon.

Like Mother Like Daughter

They both look a little nervous, don't they? The (much) older one doesn't have any excuse though! And, nice hair do, Shane. What, did you cut those bangs yourself? Oh, you did.

Easter Sunday

My little bunny rabbit had her first Easter Egg hunt. It was less of a hunt on her part than on mine. As usual, she was the little queen and her loyal subjects (aka mommy and grandma and grandpa) brought the goodies to her. Next year she'll be mobile!

Griffith Park

Almost 9 months old (one week and counting)

Sloane had her doctor's appointment today. Her new stats: She weighs 21 lbs. and 9.5 ounces (95%) and is 28 inches long (80%) -- the doctor actually made a point to tell me not to feed her if she isn't hungry because he says she's gaining a bit too much. The nurse was nicer though and told me that there was another girl in earlier that day who had been over 20 lbs. at 6 months but actually lost a few ounces by the next time she came in because she had started crawling. I'm sure once Sloane gets her groove on she'll need that stored energy.

In other news, Sloane has a head circumference of 18.5 inches. Her head circumference puts her in the 100th percentile, the nurse said. That has made me chuckle all day long. My Sloane has the largest head in America! Too funny. The doctor must not realize that all the "extra" weight is in her head. She's got heavy brains, dude.

Also funny was Sloane's reaction to the nurse giving her a vaccine today. She did not let out a peep or shed one tear, but she gave that nurse the meanest look she could muster (it might have been a triple stink eye!) and when the nurse put on the band aid Sloane tried to hit her hand away. That's my girl!

Silverlake Sunday

The girls hit the town again today. Destination: Silverlake. Sloane and her mommy had a wonderful brunch with friend Laura at a beautiful restaurant: Cliff's Edge. The banana-nutella-whipcream crepes were especially delightful -- even Sloane got into the action and had a little bit of the banana (one of her new faves, btw). We'll definitely have to go there again.

My Lil' Tulip Farmer

You've got to wake up mighty early to keep up with this little farmer. (You can see how dark it is in the background!) Does daylight savings affect Sloane's tulip farms in Amsterdam? You'll have to ask her. One thing is for sure: this lil' farmer loves to rock the red pedicure.

Also, there is not much update on the mobility front, but there is something worth mentioning. Sloane has started to lunge forward from a seated position onto her belly in order to get things that are slightly out of reach. On Monday afternoon she was really straining herself trying to crawl and it was REALLY cute. She'll get one foot planted on the ground and stretch it so you think she'll bend the knee and then get up on her knees, but then she can't figure out what to do with the other leg and the plan just goes to hell. She has been able to back up a few inches though. She was pretty patient and working at it for about 10-15 minutes. I kept clapping for her and showing how excited I was, but that might have just confused her. She didn't seem to buy that "success is just around the corner," as I had promised.

New Friends!

Sloane had a fun "ladies lunch" today with new friend Francesca, her mommy and her mommy's friend Aimee. Francesca is also the product of two attorneys who have worked at Quinn (just like Sloane!) -- and Francesca was born only 10 days before Sloane. Already they have so much in common! We'll have to do that more often!

Pink Pumas!

Thanks auntie Erin! They are soooooo cute! She LOVES stompin' around in them -- she's been banging her feet on the ground and smiling as she does it. The traction really gets her moving fast in her walker. She started singing "These shoes were made for walking . . ." -- it was amazing! Oh, and they are delicious!

nap time

Dan snuck this adorable pic during my nap with Sloane the other day. We've sure needed our sleep lately. Little Sloane had her first fever on Sunday and Monday (topped out at about 100.6). It broke around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. She only could sleep for stretches of an hour or two on Sunday and Monday night -- and, she preferred doing that lying on her side on top of her mommy. We were worried it was an ear infection, so I took her to the doctor on Monday morning. No ear infection, she just felt poorly. Poor thing had the fever, a pretty nasty cough and a runny nose like you wouldn't believe. Boy does she hate that nose syringe!

All is well now, though. She's back to her happy, jolly little self. Actually, she was even in a relatively happy mood when she was sick. Even with the fever in the doctor's office, she waved at the doctor right when she came in and smiled and giggled at her. The doctor was very impressed that she was already waving without being prompted (the doc had not waved first). And, she said that her happy mood was a very good sign that nothing was seriously wrong. She is such a trooper!
