Uncle Mike and Universal Studios

Uncle Mike was in town from Singapore for work (I forget what they call it ... when all the entertainment execs check out all the new shows on all the networks and make a big conference/party out of it ...). It was great to see him! Also great were the free tickets (with front-of-the-line bonus!) to Universal Studios. Thanks a lot Mike -- you've spoiled us! We're never going to want to wait in any lines ever again! It was really cool.
Sloane got to meet Shrek. Dex was a little scared; but, in his defense, Shrek is a big green ogre. AND, Dex was great during the Shrek show/tour where the seats all moved and jerked around and there was a lot of scary 3D action (he wore his glasses the whole time!) and other little ones had to be escorted out of the Shrek theater.
We loved the studio tour as well and I think the dinosaur/King Kong 3D was one of the favorites for all (definitely my favorite). In the pictures below, that's the kids smiling so cute in front of the War of the Worlds sets (ha!). Dan also got to go on the Simpsons ride (Sloane and Dex were both just a smidge too short ... you can't really tell below, but she's about a centimeter off -- soon!)
We ended the night with ribs and other good eats at Saddle Ranch -- and even requested "our song." Despite having started with Mommy working (boo!), the day really ended quite nicely!

FDS Silent Auction Luau

Sloane's school (soon-to-be Dexter's as well) held a silent auction on Sunday (all the proceeds to go to scholarships for kids in need). The whole family had a great time (though we all got pretty exhausted by the end, especially Sloane, who had no nap all day). But, there was dancing and food and tattoos and balloons and teachers and friends and parents, oh my! Both kids had fun -- and, we went home with a big girl bike for Sloane!

Happy Mother's Day!

Not to brag, but it's been a pretty fantastic mother's day weekend. Last night my husband turned on a recorded Oprah -- despite the fact that a basketball game was on and Sloane was demanding Dora -- without me even asking! That's love. I also received a dozen roses from *the kids.* And, that was all before my *day* began.
Today, I was treated to breakfast in bed. Dexter walked in first, carrying one red rose, followed by Sloane, carrying orange juice, followed by their daddy, carrying breakfast just for me (cottage cheese and tostitos ... ha ha ha, he knows me well). The family went out to lunch too ... and we stopped in the Galleria courtyard to listen to a little live music. Here are my cuties enjoying our day:
