Sloane's 4th Birthday!
When Sloane crawled into bed with mommy and daddy at 5:50 a.m. on June 29, 2011, her parents wished her a happy birthday and gave her tons of sleepy-eyed cuddles. Her mommy then asked her if she felt like she was 4 years old yet. She thought about it, saying, "Hmmm ..." "No, I need a party first." By the time she had finished her pancakes and opened about ten presents, she told her family that she felt four.
Mommy took the day off, running around town picking up cupcakes and balloons and dora and diego treats for Sloane's class (the Marvelous Marlins!). Daddy had planned on coming to the party, but unfortunately had to wait for the gas company. Oh well, luckily mommy takes enough pictures that everyone can feel like they were there! After we got home and both kids opened new bubble guns in honor of Sloane's birthday, bubble madness ensued. With Dexter's new gun, Daddy was particularly good at creating giant bubbles with little bubbles inside. Cool! Even our neighbor Lynn joined in the fun. It was a great day.

Happy Father's Day!
We started the day with a pancake breakfast, fun musical cards (which, frankly, the kids may have enjoyed even more than their daddy!), presents and lots of sleeping in for Daddy (despite Sloane's best efforts). Then, daddy got the rest of the day to relax while mommy took the kids to ballet and to the Cookie Grandparents. The kids rode around in Sloane's pink jeep, swam in the pool, watched a dinosaur movie, ate hamburgers, mac n' cheese, fruit and chocolate cupcakes and generally tuckered themselves out. (Yes, that is chocolate on Dexter's face. Yes, he is even sweeter that way.) Then we all ate yummy pizza from Barone's for a nice father's day dinner.
Fun!

Macho, Macho Chick
Tonight, Sloane was indignant (indignant, I say!) that Macho Man was her song, not Daddy's song, not Mommy's song. Only her song. Even to question that fact was offensive. How dare you, mommy, how dare you.

Disneyland: Kiki and Friends
**Editor's Note: I actually meant to write "Pleasure Island" in the credits -- the island where hoodlum children turn to donkeys -- as opposed to "Paradise Island" -- where Dan and I honeymooned in the Caribbean. It is all too easy to confuse the two.
Let that be a warning to you!
