Soulja Boy Sloane

Don't Get it Twisted

Halloween is Two Days Away

And, yet, Sloane somehow found herself dressed as a lion for the movies today. It is her four month birthday, afterall! Grannie, Mommy and Sloane saw Dan in Real Life and really liked it, even though they get Dan in real life every day. (of course, nothing beats the original!)
In other developments, she is about 85% of the way to rolling over and will have her four month check up tomorrow. According to a weigh-in about a week ago, she has already doubled her birth weight. She is grabbing stuff like crazy now, including toys, mobiles and her binky, which she can pick up and try to put in her mouth (her aim ain't that great yet, but she does usually manage to get some part of it in or near her mouth). She loves to stand, and can do it with Dan just holding her hands. Dan has also taught her to do the twist, among other dances. She also spent a bit of time today banging away on the computer keyboard. Perhaps she'll be blogging before long.

Filler

Hey. I haven't posted lately, so here's another one of Sloane with her mother and great-grandfather.

I have some good video of her but I need time to edit, so get off my back. I'm like Coppola on Apocalypse Now over here.

Lady Bug Baby

What a little ham!!

Now I'm posting this where it belongs chronologically . . .

When we got home from San Francisco (two trips ago) on October 14, I wanted to post pictures showing the dramatic development of our little lady -- but, I never got around to it. I think these pictures are still cute to see side by side though. The first picture was taken during her first week (first week of July), the second on October 13, the third mid-July and the fourth on October 14. Imagine, she's even bigger now, two months later. Since she started at 7 lbs., 9 oz. and is now 17 lbs., 7 oz. (or more!), she blew past the doubling-her-weight mark a while ago. Needless to say, she doesn't fit into either of these outfits anymore!

I left my Binky in San Francisco

Thank goodness there was no actual binky leaving, or we might never have made it home. The closure of the interstate 5 made it difficult enough. But, it was a wonderful weekend and so great to see everyone! (sorry, still nothing clever -- I'm tired!)

More Stanford Pics

Nothing witty to add to Dan's post, but I thought I would put up a few more pictures from our day on campus. All three of us had such a great time wandering around campus. It was very nice of the weather to cooperate . . . on Saturday.

Sloane Goes to School

We went up to Stanford for Sloane's father's 15 year college reunion. Here we are with my main man Jesus. Historical note--this church was severely damaged by the 1989 earthquake. Take that, Christianity!

Sweet Pea

Seriously, how cute is this girl?????? :)

New Developments

Over the past week or so, Sloane has really started enjoying more of her toys. Her favorites at present seem to be the Whoozit, which she bats around with her hands and the jumperoo. She hasn't quite started jumping in the jumperoo, but she is tickled pink to be able to stand up "all by herself." (and, check out the adorable knitted booties! Thanks, Grandma Francie!)

In other developments, she also got her first cold this week (likely from her mom, who is also feeling rather under the weather). :( I blame the airplane rides to and from NYC -- but, the 3 hours of sleep I got per day while we were there couldn't have helped. Hopefully the whole fam will feel good this weekend, as we head up north for Dan's 15 year college reunion (and we will hopefully get more sleep than on the last trip!).

Shane: Mindfreak

Shane was too humble to mention that during our trip to Hymietown, she mastered the art of hypnosis. As demonstrated below.

Your eyelids are getting heavy . . .

. . . damn, hypnosis is tiring . . .

Baby's First Trip

Sloane, Dan and I hit New York by storm! Sloane was absolutely fabulous on the plane -- thank goodness! She slept almost the entire way (both ways!) and you can see from the photo that Dan was a big help -- ha ha. Actually, she insisted on lying on me the whole time, which worked out because both flights were completely full and there was no space for her car seat. She was also wonderful at restaurants, and with baby-sitters extraordinaire, Dan, Sasha, Clara and Theo, so we're told. She also got to meet Kristen, Jackie, Erin and a bunch of other people at a restaurant and even more at a bar. (So, yes, we had a baby . . . at a BAR.) When we landed, she told us she had a "date with the city," and so it was. In homage to Sex and the City, she now has a crush on "Mr. Small" (a.k.a. Theo) and will hopefully be meeting up with him in Paris in a few seasons. Although it seems unlikely he will be able to remain faithful at this point, at least she got to hang out with Mr. Small all night on Saturday evening, while Dan and I went to Steve & Claire's wedding.
The only issue she seemed to have was with the hotel room. For whatever reason, she screamed a good deal in there, and it was only on day two that we realized that we should push her up and down the corridor from the door to the bed in her stroller (because OF COURSE, that's what she wanted -- duh!). I hope none of Steve and Claire's other wedding guests were the occupants of the room next door. They were not too happy when she started screaming at 8:30 am for two hours on Saturday morning. (at least it wasn't 3:30! but, they didn't seem to be looking at it like that when they banged on the door between our rooms repeatedly. "Oh, is there a baby screaming in our room? sorry, I guess we didn't HEAR her!")
