Gorillas in our midst
This is Sloane's first visit to the Los Angeles Zoo. Pictured: Sloane, a Gorilla. Not pictured: enthusiasm, interest. For Sloane, getting in the car and driving to a new, exotic locale = meh, whereas our dog is a constant source of wonder and merriment. The lesson, as always--effort is too much effort.

I protest! Within a second or two of this shot (or perhaps seconds before?) she turned around with a huge smile and then turned back pointed at the gorilla, who was a few feet from her (on the other side of the glass). She was tickled pink to see the gorilla (though, in truth, she was much more excited by the other kids and the stone wall she was standing on in this picture, which she climbed on and jumped off for about 10 minutes after the gorilla beat feet, out of sight).
