Our Day in Malibu

Mike, Gillian, Gabby, Dan, Sloane, Dexter and I met up with Aunt Susie (and her pack of 6 dogs!) in Malibu for an afternoon of fish tacos and fun on the beach. We picked up food at a take-out seafood joint on PCH and headed to the (summer) house of one of Susie's clients (GORGEOUS house pictured below). The girls loved climbing up and down staris (duh!) and playing with the dogs. Sloane ripped off her socks and shoes and loved playing in the sand and the water, despite the chill. She braved one "wave" too many. The last one of the afternoon came almost to her knees and the undertow was strong enough to topple her face-first into the retreating water. Promptly, she stripped down and decided it was a nude beach. Thus, she bears only her overcoat, diaper, socks and shoes in the last photo. It was really fun and we'll have to do it again soon!

Christmas "Dinner" (at noon!)

This was our first year hosting Christmas "dinner." It was great to have Ross at the house to help with the turkey. Sure, it was a dinner from Gelson's, but using the oven for 3+ hours is still more work than I usually do to prepare a meal! And, it was nice to have dinner early, so Sloane could take a full nap right after she ate. (She sure loved the sweet potatoes!) After naps, we went on a visit to see Tannis, Jeremy, Myra and Kathi. Tannis is an adorable pregnant mommy-to-be! Merry Christmas to all!

Christmas Eve Shenanigans

The Shenanigans were limited to bouncing on the bed, tickle fights and general pajama silliness -- in California, at least. You'll see Sloane has a little cell phone in her hand in many of the Christmas Eve pics. This is because she constantly wanted to call Grandma Mendelsohn after hearing that she got a bad "boo-boo" and was sad. Grandma Mendelsohn went skiing in Colorado that morning and broke her knee on the first run. It was bad. The doctor said, on 1-10 scale of the severity of broken bones, it was a 9. After hours of emergency surgery, she was happy to get a call from her Sloanie, who, withough prompting, asked her if she had a boo boo, told her not to be sad and kindly wished her a Happy Hannukah.
